These testimonials are from students who received a tuition waiver in exchange for taking the time to give thorough feedback.

I did this because giving detailed feedback takes a lot of time. I mean, how often have you closed out a pop-up asking you to review an app? I do it all the time, even for my favorite ones. (OK, now I feel guilty.)

Anyway, my point is that I wanted to thoroughly pick students’ brains about the course — what they loved, what they hated — so I could make it as valuable as possible. But I didn’t feel comfortable asking students who’d already shelled out their hard-earned money (for a course that’s designed to save them time, by the way) to carve out a couple hours in their schedule to give a detailed review.

So I offered a feedback scholarship and waived tuition for chosen applicants who agreed to work through the course by a certain date and let me interview them about their experience in writing and on camera. I also made it clear I wanted honest feedback, saying:

Obviously we’d be thrilled if you find the course valuable, but if it leaves you with a laundry list of complaints, we want you to tell us that straight-up and unfiltered.

We’re absolutely not looking for B.S. reviews. We only want your authentic thoughts — good or bad — so that we can improve our courses and accurately inform others about the course.
